The loss of valuable information for the cultural heritage, the digitalization and dispersion of the documentation, as well as the difficulties in the access to the information for the public were approached in the 38th Provincial Workshop dedicated to this subject in Holguin.
Alejandro Torres Gómez de Cádiz Hernández, territorial delegate of the Ministry of Science, Technology and Environment (Citma) explained during the meeting the need to institute an entity that manages conservation in a technical way, creating its own control and financing mechanism.
He also urged the initiation of a process of digitization of historical documents to make them available to all, making the municipalities responsible for this, and stressed the need to provide greater access to these manuscripts for professionals in the sector.
Another aspect brought to the conference was the application of the new Heritage Law, which he described as a crucial advance, with a conceptual basis and definition that the old legal norm did not have.
The 38th Provincial Workshop of Heritage Researchers will be held in the city of Holguin until September 20, with a diversity of panels and conferences dedicated to deepen on this topic, with the interventions of historians and specialists.
Holguin develops a wide program directed to the safeguard and diffusion of the historical memory rectored by the Citma, where the University of Holguin, the Provincial Archive, the Provincial Museum of History La Periquera and other institutions also take part.
In parallel to the digitalization and realization of events, actions are developed such as restoration of files and musical scores, clubs of interest with teenagers and young people, conferences and community meetings with the new generations.
