The main issues on the functioning of the National Union of Hotel and Tourism Workers (SNTHT) in the Cuban province of Holguin were analyzed in the III Provincial Conference of that structure held in this northeastern territory.
In the debates, recurrent topics were the impediments for the training of professionals due to the lack of teachers and courses at Formatur school, the difficulties with the payment of utilities, the lack of basic means for work, as well as the exodus of qualified personnel in the sector.
Also discussed were the results of Decree 87/2023, which empowers managers to establish the organization of the workers’ salary system and new stimulation methods, and the union’s intention to create alliances with the University aimed at supplying available jobs with students.
The conference was attended by more than 60 union representatives, as well as union directors and officers, who unanimously elected the delegates for the III National Conference of the Union, to be held in November.
During the conference, held at the Gran Muthu Almirante Beach Hotel, in the seaside resort of Guardalavaca, the new structure of the provincial bureau was selected and José Ángel Expósito was reelected as secretary of the SNTHT in Holguín.
Participating in the activity were Julio Enrique Morales, secretary general of the SNTHT; Ismael Drullet Pérez, member of the national secretariat of the Cuban Workers’ Central; Francisco Suárez Fernández, delegate in the Holguín territory of the Ministry of Tourism; among other authorities.
