A new ice cream factory will soon start operating in the municipality of Gibara as a long-standing desire of its inhabitants and as a result of the strategies implemented for local development from food production.
The modern plant, with Italian technology, is the result of international cooperation with the Articulated Platform for Integral Territorial Development (Padit) and will achieve the linkage between a mini-industry processing fruit pulp and another existing project in the Inejiro Asanuma Spinning Mill, which will ensure the needs of packaging and plastic containers demanded by the nascent industry.
Jorge Ángel Salermo Silva, director of the entity, commented exclusively to ACN that the factory, after concluding its technological testing stage, will be able to produce around 360 liters of ice cream daily, in a variety of presentations ranging from 250-milliliter popsicles and pots to four-liter containers.
The executive confirmed that the main objective will be to provide services to the population in the ice cream parlor itself, but due to the high levels of efficiency of the installed technology, it will also reach commercial and gastronomic establishments, health and educational institutions such as children’s circles and homes for the elderly.
For his part, Andrés Ricardo Rivas, president of the Municipal Assembly of People’s Power, commented that the government is carrying out what is indicated by the country through the use of science and innovation, focused on the realization of local productive systems.
For this, he explained, they seek to chain all forms of management from the endogenous potentialities of the territory, capable of satisfying the basic needs of the population.
Gibara, located north of the capital city, was recognized by the Provincial Bureau of the Communist Party of Cuba in Holguin as Outstanding on the occasion of the celebrations for the 26th of July celebrations, for its positive results and indicators in obtaining food and basic services.
