Holguin Provincial Archive of History opens to the public an exhibition with contributions of the distinguished researcher, writer, political analyst and promoter Ventura Carballido Pupo, to the Cuban revolutionary process and to the safeguarding of the historical memory of this eastern territory, confirming Marti’s principle that “each man is in himself the summary of the times, and the son of them”.
In a simple act of delivery of a wide diversity of documents, organized in 13 subgroups, Carballido Pupo thanked those present for their accompaniment in a moment of such significance. “It is a crime to let lose an important part of the historical memory of the continuators of Fidel’s great work.
Many people with the possibility of making their contributions are not stimulated and transcendental events are forgotten,” he said, while insisting that the most important thing is the collective work.
He pointed out that, in general, most of the historical researches reflect what happened before the triumph of the Cuban Revolution, meaning, as a sample, 25 important events in this province, of which the necessary documentation does not exist, as it happens with the National School of Agricultural Accountants created by Fidel and the School of Militia Officers of Moa, for which reason, “it is of utmost importance to contact the protagonists who are still alive”.
At Holguin Archive of History, a wide documentary exhibition of Ventura Carballido Pupo

The donation of documents made by Carballido Pupo to Holguin Provincial Archive of History -as a necessary and important contribution to the safeguarding of the historical memory of events and personalities of the revolutionary period, from January 1959 to date- will be followed by another delivery in the near future.
Regarding his project “La memoria que salva” (The memory that saves), which has very valuable collaborators and followers, Carballido Pupo pointed out that objectivity, scientific rigor and a lot of willpower must prevail when it comes to research and writing. “We do it on a voluntary basis, without the necessary resources, for which reason, we need the collaboration of other people, institutions and organizations, such as this dear group of the Historical Archive, to which we are so grateful, because it has opened its door and its hearts to us”.
Since now on the Provincial Archive of History stores a wide documentary exhibition of Ventura Carballido Pupo.

In the words of presentation, Doctor of Science Daysi Ruiz Fuentes, specialist in Information Services of the institution, said that “this son of Salto de Barajagua, Cueto, has a very fruitful life and we recognize him as a tireless manager, defender and promoter of historical memory, whose personal collection donated to our center will be protected, processed and duly preserved for posterity”.
While Migdalia Moreno Gómez, coordinator of the social sphere in the Provincial Government, conveyed the gratitude and congratulations of the main authorities of this territory to Ventura Carballido Pupo, “for his 82 years of life -which was the same day of the donation-, his rich trajectory and the patrimonial value of the sample provided”. He also mentioned the possibility of financially supporting the project headed by the renowned and multifaceted promoter and defender of such just causes.
The delivery of documents that were part of Ventura Carballido Pupo’s personal collection took place in the context of the International Archives Day, which has been celebrated every June 9 since 2007, in remembrance of the official establishment of the International Council on Archives in 1948, under the auspices of UNESCO.
