Holguin held Territorial Pediatrics Conference

Several scientific activities took place recently in Holguin as part of the Pediatrics Territorial Day.

Octavio de la Concepción de la Pedraja children hospital was the venue for the opening of the event, which this time was named Dr. Julio Grave de Peralta In Memoriam, as a tribute to the excellent pediatrician, dedicated educator and one of the founders of the institution.

This edition, under the slogan “Growing into the future for a happy childhood and adolescence”, was dedicated to health workers and also to the 95th Anniversary of the Cuban Society of Pediatrics, and counted with the outstanding participation of undergraduate students, represented by all the Medical Sciences majors.

The research work in the face-to-face modality was organized in five rooms in the pediatric institution, one in the Medical College of the provincial capital city and two in the municipalities of Banes and Moa, with about a hundred scientific results presented.

In addition, a virtual room was conceived to enable the participation of other territories, so that it would be possible to update on the best practices of the specialty and the principles for the integral management of the care of children and adolescents.

As part of the program, the Master Conference “Empirical Antimicrobial Treatment” was given by Dr. Rosaida Marrero Rodriguez.

The conference provided a fruitful exchange of experiences on the main issues that characterize pediatric care in Cuba, as well as the most appropriate action protocols for underage patients.
