Vocal Monier celebrated 15 years of family creation    

The versatile members of Vocal Monier celebrated 15 years of family creation with a magnificent concert in the small hall of the Fine Arts Provincial Center in Holguin.

The ensemble, led by Milagros Monier, performed several emblematic themes of the nation’s choral repertoire, such as “Mulata”, “El Almuercero” and “Me vendo caro”, as well as their distinctive song “Arte primero y último”, written by its director.

The show, presented by musicographer Zenovio Hernández, also featured special performances by the choir of the University of Holguin and Coro Selectivo choir of “Raúl Gómez García” Provincial School of Arts, both led by teacher Leidy Brown, as a sample of the Monier’s contributions to teaching in different institutions of the province.

During the concert, teacher Milagros Monier received a special recognition from Idelmis Reyes, director of the “Faustino Oramas” Empresa Comercializadora de la Música (Music and Entertainment Marketing Company), to which the group belongs to.

The talented group with roots in Guantanamo, which emerged on December 20, 2008, was initially called “Convergencia”, until later Maestra Zenaida Romeu baptized it Vocal Monier, today’s name.

Since its founding, it has been distinguished by the splitting of its members into other formats, the use of popular elements and other issues to enrich their interpretation.

Vocal Monier has also defended universal and Cuban music; especially that made in the east of the country, and by arranger, composer, specialist in choral music and Maestro de Juventud recognition, Modesto Conrado Monier Ribeaux.

The group is currently made up of sisters Milagros and María Monier Ribeaux, their children Raúl Obret and Leidy Laura Brown,

respectively, as well as their niece, Dixiana Monier Figueroa (Modesto Conrado’s daughter) and percussionist Niover Homero Armenteros.
