Construction Materials Company in Holguin Strengthens Ties with Local Industries

The Holguin Construction Materials Company (Medano) is strengthening production linkages with state-owned, private, and mixed-ownership entities. With the goal of leveraging local capacity and reducing the need to import inputs.

Yunior Pupo Leyva, the company’s general director, told the Cuban News Agency that, thanks to the province’s industrial diversity, they are forming alliances. To expand the value chain and achieve mutually beneficial results for all parties involved.

To date, more than 15 contracts are in place, including agreements for cooperative production, leasing, and investment. Which help solidify the organization’s financial, material, and technological standing.

Within the province, the company collaborates with entities such as the “Héroes del 26 de Julio” Mechanical Enterprise and the “LX Aniversario de la Revolución de Octubre” Sugarcane Harvester Factory. Beyond Holguin, it has established relationships with industries in Las Tunas and Camagüey. Also to secure resources that previously had to be imported a process that was often difficult due to high costs.

Pupo Leyva noted that partnerships with non-state entities. Which provide fuel, spare parts, and technology in exchange for a portion of the output are helping to sustain operations at several facilities.

Yanier Cuadro Zaldívar, director of the Gibara-based business unit known as Two Hundred Thousand due to its production capacity. He explained that the unit collaborates with four private companies. Which provides support for the joint production of aggregates and construction blocks.

Furthermore, ties are being strengthened with knowledge centers dedicated to professional development and the advancement of science and technology. Including the Dr. Antonio Núñez Jiménez University of Moa, the University of Holguin (UHo), and the province’s Scientific-Technological-Industrial Park added Pupo Leyva.
