The Investments Business Unit (UEB), part of the Holguin Electric Company, is carrying out a series of strategic projects. Aimed at modernizing the province’s energy infrastructure.
With a workforce of 42 employees and under the leadership of Eduardo Palacio Godán, the unit undertakes highly complex technical projects. Ranging from the development of new transmission networks to the integration of renewable energy sources and the improvement of urban utility services.
In terms of field operations, the primary focus is on the Ramón de Antilla tourism hub. Here, the construction of a 20-kilometer, 110-kilovolt power line is 41% complete. While the associated substation has reached over 90% physical completion.
This facility already has its two transformers and control infrastructure in place. Which will allow for the activation of a 33-kilovolt connection, pending the synchronization of the main power line.
The investment plan also includes the work of the Preparation Group. Which is focused on developing underground networks for the wind farm. This initiative aims to connect the “Gibara I” wind farm to the municipal center. Also to establish an independent 33-kilovolt circuit, and reduce service interruptions.
Additionally, the Projects Group is developing technical designs for the conversion of the power line toward Caletones. Which will see its capacity increased from 13 to 33 kilovolts via a new substation. It is planning secondary interconnection lines for the photovoltaic (solar) farms in Potrerillo (Rafael Freyre municipality), Providencia (Holguin), and Cueto. In the field of construction and installation, the workforce is divided between supporting other regions of the country and addressing local demands.
A crew led by Adrián Reyes has been working for the past three months at various sites in Havana. While a team directed by Frank Milanés is carrying out projects in Holguin with significant economic and social impact. Such as the 33-kilovolt line for the Santa Clara dam. As well as the power supply for the Caletones desalination plant and the Las Covachas pumping station.
Within the urban area, the business unit (UEB) has been conducting maintenance and expansion work on electrical circuits 1, 2, 19, 20, and 21.
As a continuation of these efforts, the entity plans to soon begin the second phase of the “express circuit” toward the city center. A route spanning the area between Etecsa and Aguilera Street. This project is designed to protect the historic district, safeguard the boulevard, and ensure a stable. Dedicated power supply for banking institutions and vital city services.
