Minister of Energy and Mines denounces effects of U.S. energy blockade against Cuba

Cuba’s Minister of Energy and Mines, Vicente de la O, denounced on Monday the ongoing effects of the energy blockade imposed on the archipelago.

“Cuba continues to face an energy blockade that causes blackouts and fuel shortages. For transporting food, supplies, raw materials, and medicines.” The official stated in an interview broadcast on the Cuban Foreign Ministry’s X account.

De la O further noted that the Cuban state sector’s fuel needs have not been met. Also that prolonged power outages as well as electricity generation and fuel deficits persist. “This hinders the transport of medicines, supplies, and raw materials for production, irrigation, and so on,” he said.

“The energy blockade to which Cuba is subjected amounts to a total blockade on life itself; what is happening to the Cuban people is genocide,” he concluded.
