The city of Holguin is gearing up to once again become the epicenter of sociocultural exchange in the region. With the celebration of the 32nd Ibero-American Culture Festival, taking place from October 24th to 30th, 2026.
This edition will feature the confirmed participation of 30 delegates from 10 countries and will be specially dedicated to arts education. Recognizing the key role of academic training in safeguarding the identity and traditions of the region’s peoples.
Organizational details were announced during a recent press conference held at the iconic Casa de Iberoamérica.
The meeting was led by Yakelin Tapia, Provincial Director of Culture, and Ernesto Angulo, Director of the Casa de Iberoamérica and president of the organizing committee. Joining them were Liliana Avilés, an international relations specialist, and various sector officials who outlined the logistical and curatorial efforts to ensure the success of an event. Also that after more than three decades of uninterrupted history, continues to solidify its status as an essential platform for theoretical, community, and artistic convergence.
In keeping with this edition’s central theme, the opening gala scheduled for the evening of October 24th will have a distinctly educational and moving character. Bringing together students and teachers from all the province’s arts education schools on stage. This initial performance will not only mark the start of the festivities. But will also showcase the generational transition and the vitality of the region’s cultural education system.

Meanwhile, the reflective and academic dimension will be spearheaded by the 21st Ibero-American Congress on Thought. Taking place from October 25th to 27th in the halls of the La Periquera Provincial Museum. Held under the theme “Ancestral Cultures, Contemporary Perspectives,” this forum marks its 21st anniversary. Reaffirming its status as an essential space for study, research, and debate. Regarding the historical and social processes that unite the Ibero-American region.
In parallel, the world of artisanal craftsmanship and papermaking will hold its 4th Gathering. With programming shared between the Iberian Center and the “El Alba” Regional Academy.
In the days leading up to the official opening, further details are expected regarding the arrival of international delegations. With the participation of local talent in one of the most significant events on the Cuban cultural calendar.
Beyond its festive and academic aspects, the Ibero-American Culture Festival serves as a cornerstone of Holguin’s identity and pride. Reaffirming the city year after year as a hub for international encounter and dialogue in eastern Cuba.
The event transcends theater stages and conference halls to actively engage the community. Strengthening residents’ sense of belonging and showcasing Holguin’s heritage to the rest of the world.
