The search for efficient alternatives for local economic development and Cuba’s sovereign integration into international markets found a pivotal meeting point in the city of Holguin on October 2nd. The “El Regente” Bar-Cafeteria hosted the first edition of Datacamp Global Lab. A technical and professional networking event focused on foreign trade, finance, and innovation.
Jointly organized by the NUCL3UM S.A. Scientific-Technological and Industrial Park of Holguin and the Holguin-Las Tunas Delegation of the Chamber of Commerce of the Republic of Cuba. The event combined keynote lectures, specialized consulting, and networking opportunities. These sessions enabled business leaders, entrepreneurs from both the state and private sectors, and local specialists to update their operational tools.
A key focus of the program was the critical path for processing exports and imports. Specialists in the field analyzed documentation requirements and the current regulatory framework. Placing particular emphasis on the implementation of Resolution 126/2026. A crucial regulation for simplifying and streamlining commercial operations.
The financial module served as another key pillar of the event. Addressing the challenges posed to the national economy by the foreign exchange landscape and international environment. Also the speakers presented operational solutions regarding foreign currency payment mechanisms and instruments. The issuance and management of letters of credit and documentary collections, financing avenues, and comprehensive foreign exchange risk management.
Furthermore, the competitive opportunities offered by integration into science and technology parks, partnerships, and special development zones were highlighted. According to the speakers, the synergy between academia, the productive sector, and intermediary entities represents a transformative path for diversifying the local export mix.
The exchange of experiences and audience participation underscored the clear need to establish opportunities for continuous learning regarding commercial and financial management.
At the conclusion of the event, the organizing team highlighted the impact of this inaugural edition and reaffirmed its commitment to continuing the initiative: “Thank you to all participants for your interest, your questions, and your commitment to learning how to conduct business from Cuba with a global perspective. You are the driving force behind these forums.” They also acknowledged the speakers’ contributions and the hospitality of the *El Regente* Bar-Cafeteria in hosting the project’s institutional debut.
With this initial step, Datacamp Global Lab begins its journey as a leading platform in eastern Cuba. For training and fostering productive linkages with an international outlook.
