Cuba Confirms No Ongoing Negotiations with the U.S.

Cuban Foreign Minister Bruno Rodríguez confirmed today that there are currently no negotiations underway with the U.S. government, nor are there any defined roadmaps.

Speaking at a press conference on the effects of the embargo, the Foreign Minister pointed out that previous talks had been held with the State Department. But without progress due to Washington’s lack of political will.

Rodríguez reiterated Cuba’s willingness to continue talks based on international law. Without pressure and under conditions of absolute equality, under principles of mutual respect, reciprocal benefit, and non-interference in the internal affairs of the Caribbean nation.

Regarding the ongoing economic and social transformations, he noted that there has been no official statement from the U.S. government. He clarified that external opinions are also unnecessary. As these measures are part of the sovereign exercise of the Republic of Cuba, a power that resides solely with its people.

The foreign minister indicated that, in contrast, broad sectors of American society have shown interest in learning about and taking advantage of opportunities to expand trade ties with the island.

Regarding Washington’s offer of $100 million in humanitarian aid, he specified that so far only a shipment of food and hygiene products for 700 families has been delivered.

He challenged the State Department to explain when the actual delivery of this aid will begin. Whether it will include medicine and food—priorities for the Cuban people—and why it is taking months to materialize.

Also he emphasized that Cuba always accepts all humanitarian aid offered from any corner of the world. Under international cooperation norms that exclude conditions and political manipulation.
Regarding the recent executive orders from Washington that label Cuba a threat to national security, he asserted that U.S. authorities are lying.

He warned that any attempt at direct military aggression would provoke a bloodbath. Affirmed that Cuba will defend its independence, sovereignty, and territorial integrity with the same unwavering determination as always.

Finally, he emphasized that the Cuban government is actively working on implementing economic and social policies to address structural problems in the economy. Also with the accumulated effects of the blockade, and the devastating effects of the energy embargo.
