The Young Communist League (UJC) in Holguin organized a series of activities in the town. With over one hundred young people from the region participating.

Yiset González Borrego, first secretary of the UJC in the province, explained that the celebration was particularly significant due to the two anniversaries. “As we do every year, the young people of Holguin celebrated International Youth Day. And the birthday of our Commander-in-Chief Fidel Castro Ruz in the land where he was born,” she stated.

One of the central activities will be a dialogue between generations. Young people will exchange ideas with the main authorities of the region and with colleagues who knew Fidel Castro. Also who will share their experiences of his personality and historical significance.

The young participants will make one hundred donations. In a gesture of solidarity honoring the centennial of the historical leader of the Revolution.

Moreover the collective birthday celebration will take place in the community of Biran itself, as is the historical tradition in this town. Afterward, the main provincial event will be held. Where young people from Holguin will express their commitments to Fidel Castro’s centennial.

During the celebration, the “Centennial of the Commander-in-Chief” award will be presented to outstanding young people. Centers that contribute to the production and services sectors of the provincial economy will also be recognized.

The Federation of Cuban Women will take advantage of the occasion to present the August 23rd Distinction. To outstanding women from across the Holguin province.

Furthermore the activities bring together young people from Biran. For a day that combines a tribute to the historical leader with recognition of the role of youth in contemporary Cuban society.
