Private Company Frenas Conmigo Brings Light to Isolated Homes in Holguin

The private company Frenas Conmigo (Stop With Me) brought light to isolated homes in the province of Holguin through solar systems. The result of a joint program with the local electric company.

Álvaro Grass González, sole partner and founder of the company, told the Cuban News Agency that the entity, dedicated to the repair of parts, components, and assemblies for transportation. Installed several systems thanks to state investment and a donation. Benefiting families in the town of Limpio Chiquito, in the municipality of Cacocum.

The technology made it possible to bring energy to homes that had never had electricity. Representing a substantial change in the quality of life for the residents, he commented.

Grass González specified that the project also included the installation of five systems in key institutions within the district. Including the funeral home, the electric utility, and the main bank branch.

Moreover the executive explained that, in line with the national policy of changing the energy matrix. Which is a priority for the country, the company transformed its consumption model. To guarantee the continuity of its services through the acquisition of solar panels, inverters, and batteries.

The main workshop has photovoltaic equipment installed by its own team. Allowing it to meet its energy demand without depending on the National Electric System and to operate more efficiently.

As part of its contribution to this goal, Frenas Conmigo was responsible for the first solar charging station in the province. El Girasol, which offers services to electric vehicles. As well as services to the public, including the recharging of mobile phones and small household appliances, free of charge or at affordable prices.

In its initial phase, the station had a capacity of 32 kilowatts (kW) in inverters and 60 kW in batteries. Although it plans to double its generation capacity and expand its services. Including providing cooking services to customers, the company added.

A leader in brake and clutch system repair, Frenas Conmigo maintains more than 300 contracts with the state and private sectors in eastern Cuba.
