With a parade of children and young people participating in the School Sports Festival. The Summer 2026 festivities were inaugurated this Sunday in the city of Holguin. The event paid tribute to the centennial of the birth of the historical leader of the Revolution, Fidel Castro.
Yodalkis Espinosa Prevals, provincial director of Sports, Physical Education, and Recreation. With the participation of all competitive disciplines and the various forms of recreation and physical culture in the province.
She added that the games in the communities are the best way to honor the Commander-in-Chief. Given the presence of sports in each neighborhood and sector. As well as the enjoyment of the entire community, and they are held with a large turnout.
Osmani Viñals García, First Secretary of the Communist Party of Cuba in the municipality of Holguin, emphasized the importance of the school games in each territory. Due to the massive participation in the opening of Summer. Which is reflected in every organized activity.
Mailen Cepena Rondán, a 12-year-old rhythmic gymnast, expressed her enthusiasm for the school games. And her passion for her category, an artistic discipline she championed in previous editions and continues to pursue with dedication.
The program included cultural activities at various recreational centers throughout the region. Including artistic performances for young people and children.
Among the highlights were performances by the youth group Clase Urbana. The storytelling company Palabras al Viento, the collective exhibition of Holguin artists, “A Place Called Humanity.” A children’s show with the Guiñol Theater, and a trade fair.
The day also includes a parade to the Major General Calixto García Stadium. With a gala featuring performances by performing arts companies and amateur artists. Under the artistic direction of Carlos López.
