The Council of State of the Republic of Cuba began the Parliamentary Public Hearing “Cuba Wants Peace” this Thursday. At the Capitol Building, with the presence of Esteban Lazo, President of Parliament.
From the legislative headquarters, deputies defended the dignity and sovereignty of the nation in a space for debate and patriotic reaffirmation. The event reflected the Cuban people’s commitment to peace and their rejection of all forms of foreign interference.
“With increasing frequency, the United States government is brandishing threats that reflect its clear intention. To once again impose its control over Cuba’s destiny. As it did for 60 years of the last century when it exercised total neocolonial domination over our country.” Stated Deputy Alberto Núñez, President of the International Relations Committee of the National Assembly of People’s Power.
“There is no excuse whatsoever that can justify a military aggression against our country. Which would undoubtedly cause destruction and the death of Cubans and Americans,” he added.
He also condemned as immoral the arguments that support turning a humanitarian crisis into a military aggression. Even though it is obvious that the crisis is being provoked by the aggressor government itself.
“Cuba does not want conflict. We are and have always been a country of peace and solidarity. Also which has fostered respectful and friendly relations with other countries and peoples of the world, including the American people,” he reiterated.
