The 65th anniversary of the National Association of Small Farmers (ANAP) and Cuban Farmers‘ Day. This May 17th brought together a reaffirmation of gratitude and appreciation. For those who guarantee sustenance from the fields in Holguin.

The event, which brought together the highest authorities of the Communist Party of Cuba and the Government in the province. Along with representatives of mass organizations and workers in the sector, became a space for recognizing their daily dedication.

In a context where food sovereignty is positioned as a national security priority. The role of the peasantry stands out not only for its productive contribution, but also for being the guardian of the traditions and deepest values of the Revolution.

One of the most moving moments was the presentation of awards to producers and grassroots organizations with outstanding results.

Moreover the Sergio González Agricultural Production Cooperative (CCS), host of the event. Received special recognition for its comprehensive performance, the solidarity among its members. And its strict adherence to its commitments—qualities that earned it the honor of hosting the municipal festivities.

The spirit of generational renewal also marked the day. Young farmer Isailis Saavedra, representing the new generation, spoke to affirm that Cuban agriculture has the necessary future leadership. Her words made it clear that young people not only inherit the land. Also the responsibility to apply science and innovation to increase yields on every hectare.

At the close of the event, the municipal leadership of the National Association of Small Farmers (ANAP) emphasized the need to strengthen internal unity and agricultural efficiency. Under the celebration’s motto, “With heads held high and hands in the ground.” A call was made to not let material limitations stop them and to seek creative solutions that will allow more food to be put on the tables of the people of Holguin.

Also this 65th anniversary not only marks a historical trajectory since the signing of the Agrarian Reform Law. It projects into the future the commitment of a sector that, between furrows and early mornings, continues to be a humble but vigorous engine of the local economy.
