The program for the 33rd edition of the Romerías de Mayo (May Pilgrimages) included a moving ceremony at the La Periquera Provincial Museum. To recognize prominent figures and institutions in the region. Linked to Cuban cultural development and the promotion of new generations of creators and artists.
During the ceremony, held as part of the activities celebrating the 40th anniversary of the Hermanos Saíz Association (AHS). The organization awarded the AHS Soul Award to Luis Yuseff, poet and writer. And César Hidalgo Torres, historian and audiovisual producer.
At the same event, the AHS also conferred Honorary Membership on Gilberto García Acosta, a radio broadcaster from Holguin. Poet Ronel González; Dr. Yuricel Moreno Zaldívar. And Yasser Velázquez, actor and artistic director, for their tireless work in promoting young artists in the city.
The AHS 40th Anniversary Seal was awarded to journalist and essayist Katiuska Blanco. Film and television director Roly Peña; the Holguin Provincial Directorate of Culture. Also the Provincial Council of Performing Arts; the Holguin-based publishing house Ediciones La Luz. The AHS Holguin imprint; and CMKO Radio Angulo, the flagship station of the Holguin radio network.
