The members of the Council of State received an update on the progress of the study and analysis process of the Government Program to correct distortions and revitalize the economy. Which is taking place in the country between November 15th and December 30th.
During their ordinary session for the month of December. The session was chaired by the President of this body, Esteban Lazo Hernández. And attended at the National Capitol Building by the First Secretary of the Central Committee of the Party and President of the Republic, Miguel Díaz-Canel Bermúdez, and Prime Minister Manuel Marrero Cruz.
The significance of this process, as a demonstration of popular participation, aims to enrich and strengthen the Government Program. Based on concrete proposals derived from the debates and to contribute, with everyone’s input, to its implementation. This was highlighted in the insightful analysis.
Jorge Luis Broche Lorenzo, a member of the Secretariat and head of the Economic and Productive Department of the Central Committee of the Party. Following the State Council’s in-depth evaluation of the implementation of the ten general objectives of the Government Program. This evaluation was based on the accountability reports of those responsible during the Council’s ordinary sessions held in October and November.
During the session, the Council of State approved the decree-laws “On Foreign Currency Transactions in the National Economy,” “On Financial Education,” and “On Partnerships between State-Owned and Private Business Entities.”
Furthermore, the members of this body evaluated, prior to their presentation at the upcoming Sixth Ordinary Session of the National Assembly of People’s Power. The draft laws “On the Exceptional Reduction of the Current Term of Office of Delegates to the Municipal Assemblies of People’s Power”. And “General Law on Science, Technology, and Innovation.” As well as aspects related to updating the Legislative Calendar for 2026.
In the ordinary session, this body also approved conducting an audit and oversight exercise of the General Customs Office of the Republic. A process that will be led by the National Defense and Internal Order Committee of the Cuban Parliament. With the participation of the deputies from the Services Committee. In which will cover the end of 2025 and will be implemented in the first quarter of 2026.
Finally, the Council of State approved readjusting the program for the Sixth Ordinary Session of the National Assembly of People’s Power. In its Tenth Legislature, and holding it only on December 18th. Via videoconference taking into account the complex situation in the country.
