The Cuban Culture Day opened this Friday at the Alex Urquiola Provincial Library in the city of Holguin. The celebration kicked off at this location with a cultural gala featuring Holguin talent. Including the companies La Campana, Guiñol, Palabras al Viento, and soloist Liz Ponce.
In the presence of the highest government and political authorities and cultural leaders in Holguin. The cultural presentations paid tribute to our culture and the historic event of October 10th, 1868.
The event, which features a broad program of activities, will run until October 20th. With initiatives developed by all the cultural institutions in the territory. The main objective is to celebrate, exchange experiences, and, from Holguin, pay tribute to Fidel Castro Ruz. Also the filmmaker Alfredo Guevara, singer Juana Bacallao, photographer Raúl Corrales, and the Matamoros Trio.
Moreover the event in the city pays tribute to the 35th anniversary of the Mayari Son Festival. The centennial of the Cine Martí, the life and work of historians Ángel Peña Obregón and Hirám Pérez Concepción. Finally the 21st anniversary of the José Martí Brigade of Art Instructors.
