Miguel Díaz-Canel visits Holguin municipalities

The first secretary of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Cuba and President of the Republic, Miguel Díaz-Canel Bermúdez is currently visiting the province of Holguin.

The “Cochico 2” swine reproduction center, an enclave belonging to the Ministry of Agriculture, in which dark-coated pigs are raised and reproduced, a breed that is very resistant to diseases and humid tropical climates.

There he verified the breeding of about 55 breeding sows, of which 16 are calving and 39 are pregnant.
The President was interested in the attention and salaries of the eight workers who work tirelessly there in the advancement and recovery of a productive unit that was abandoned for more than 10 years.

The president was accompanied by the member of the Political Bureau and secretary of organization of the Central Committee of the PCC Roberto Morales Ojeada, as well as the highest political and governmental authorities of the PCC and the Government in the province and the municipality of Rafael Freyre.

Díaz-Canel continued his tour of the municipality, where he shared with the residents, of Circumscription # 43 of the Santa Lucía popular council, of eight that the territory has.

The head of state learned demographic data of the community, which is home to about 1,100 inhabitants at the end of December.

He also evidenced the achievements of a neighborhood in transformation, in which the protagonists are the people of Santa Lucia themselves and the factors of the community, as a relief to social problems.
Finally, Díaz-Canel arrived at the La Esperanza farm, a plot erected on what was once a large landfill. Now there is a green breath in a plot that benefits vulnerable people who buy products at low prices.

This farm treasures a monetary fund, acquired from the sale of food harvested there, among which chili pepper, cassava, cucumber, tomato and pumpkin stand out. This kindness is also received by people with low incomes and assistance, the children of the district and are used for community activities.

In his dialogue with the community members, the President directed his attention to continue advancing with unity and commitment to our social system that, even in the midst of so many difficulties, it is necessary to maintain what we have so that the enemy does not take away our security and our conquests.

The transformation of this landfill into a plot is an example of how much can be done with the minimum of resources and called on the people to continue fighting with creative resistance.

At the close of this information, Díaz-Canel is on a tour of the municipality of Gibara, where he visited the Injiero Asanuma Spinning Mill, the municipal hospital and established a dialogue with residents of constituency number 7.
