This Wednesday, October 30, the National Union of Workers of the Food and Fishing Industry will celebrate its first 15 years of existence, whose main celebration will be held in the Cuban province of Holguin.
The event will be held in one of the production centers of the Empresa Provincial Productora y Distribuidora de Alimentos (Numa), chosen for the celebration due to its good performance in economic management and the generation of alternative productions.
The fact that this eastern province has been awarded the seat is a recognition to the more than eight thousand affiliates of the food industry who, in a very challenging economic context, maintain their productions or create other options, which, although they do not meet the demand, are necessary contributions.
According to Oliday Frias Vega, general secretary of this trade union in Holguin, the province was chosen as the venue also thanks to its outstanding performance in union indicators such as punctual payment of finances, overcompliance in My Contribution to the Homeland, and the delivery of superior categories, namely distinctions and medals, to collectives and workers.
During the celebration this Wednesday, the “Pedro Marrero” and “Aracelio Iglesias” awards will be given to food and fishing workers, respectively, with 20 and 25 years of work in the sector.
Likewise, the provinces of Cienfuegos and Sancti Spíritus stood out in the national emulation of the National Union of Workers of the Food and Fishing Industry.
