Holguin Book Fair comes to an end

With a gala at Casa de la Música of the Cuban City of the Parks, the 32nd International Book Fair closed its last page, which in Holguin dedicated five intense days to the multi-awarded writer Emerio Medina, to the Alex Urquiola Provincial Library on its 65th anniversary and to the university seal Conciencia Ediciones, on the occasion of its tenth anniversary.

The Contemporary Dance Company Codanza, soloists Yhamila Rodríguez, Marien Hernández and Víctor Esturo, the company Danza Evolución and the Septeto Holguinero enlivened the evening.

The event was the occasion for the Provincial Center of Culture Houses to give, in an extraordinary way, the Community Culture Award to the Provincial Center of Book and Literature, in recognition of the sustained work of this institution in favor of the quality of life of Holguin’s communities.

The gesture was reciprocal, granting the System of Culture Houses a recognition for its traditional support to the general program of the fairs, with its quality artistic units, as part of the Movement of Amateur Artists.

Likewise, the Provincial Center of Book and Literature awarded the efforts of the Imprenta Lugones printing house for its dedication to the achievement of each Holguin publishing plan, with high quality in the final product of its books.

Similar contributions were recognized to the Combinado Poligráfico “José Miró Argenter”, whose collaboration with the Sistema de Ediciones Territoriales is decisive for the celebration of each great literary festival.

Two bookstores were also honored: “Ateneo Villena-Botev”, from Holguín, and “Wilfredo Williams”, from Mayarí; both developed an excellent promotion and commercialization work that allowed, in record time, to meet and exceed the sales plans for these days.

The closing ceremony in Holguin of the largest literary festival in the country was attended by the highest political and government authorities of the province, as well as a representation of the institutions that make up the cultural network, which every year come together to ensure the success of the always awaited International Book Fair.
