Low Budget Film Factory to be expanded from Gibara

Gibara International Film Festival recently presented a proposal to promote audiovisual production in Camagüey and the entire eastern region of Cuba with the creation of a Low Budget Film Factory, reported Cubacine.

Sergio Benvenuto Solás, director of the Festival, spoke this February at the event Por Primera Vez (For the First Time), sponsored by Holguín Provincial Film Center to offer the space and platforms of national and international resonance, reached by the Gibara film event to expand that initiative.

Such proposal summons filmmakers, producers, cultural authorities and representatives of other related events in the region.

If the efforts of Por Primera Vez, guests Museo de la Imagen y el Sonido from Santiago de Cuba,  Almacén de la Imagen from Camagüey and other interested parties like the Festival de Cine Itinerante from Granma and the Jornada de Cine Andante from Guantánamo, among other institutions, this geographic area would benefit from its insertion in the Gibara event next August.

Under the name Factoría del Cine Pobre, inspired by the manifesto of Humberto Solás, creator of the Gibara Film Festival, this initiative aims to promote the management of a pool of projects and the search for synergies and funds that lead to the execution of the chosen audiovisual works, according to the note published in Cubacine.
