The sanitary transport for Urgency and Emergency services in the province of Holguin in the last years have been affected due to the shortage of parts and pieces of the vehicles and consequently, such vital services.
Things will changed the current year with the progressive arrival of nine ambulances to the territory, aimed at improving its vitality.
According to Willian Puentes Martínez, head of the Transportation Department at the General Directorate of Health, “of the ambulances that we are going to receive, foreseen in this year’s plan, there are five Foton ones and two Mercedes Benz vehicles, to which two more have been added. Although the latter two ones are not new, they are in the process of being refurbished, painted and labeled.

These two are expected to arrive in the territory by the end of February, while the remaining seven ones should be in Holguin before the end of January. To date, the vehicles assigned to the municipalities of Sagua de Tánamo and Antilla and Mayarí are in the province”.
The next ambulances to enter will be for Cacocum and Urbano Noris, while the Mercedes Benz will be assigned to the Regional Base of Banes and the Regional Base of Moa. The last two ones will be sent to Holguin Regional Base.
As for the particularities of the vehicles, the Foton ones will be used for non-urgent service and the Mercedes Benz will replace the Neonatal ambulance and will have four Advanced Life Support vehicles.
Health transport plays a crucial role in ensuring that patients receive timely and adequate medical care. Hence the need for a rapid response to emergencies, with safe transportation, so that patients receive the treatment they require in the shortest possible time.
