The XIV National University Radio Festival, to be held in Holguin, will take place from May 23 to 26, 2024 as a space to encourage the radio movement in the country’s universities.
The contest, dedicated this time to the memory of Manuel Porto Sanchez, National Radio and Television Award, will have a jury headed by its honorary president, Lazaro Chiang Macate, World Journalism Award for All 2016, as well as specialists from different provinces.
John Alex Fernández Leyva, member of the secretariat of the Federation of University Students, in a press conference, explained that in this opportunity it will be possible to compete in special themes such as “Happy University without drugs” and “Student innovation, opportunity and contribution in a country of science”.
He also emphasized that prizes will be awarded in the categories of staged, musical, varied and information spaces, information genres, propaganda and Internet productions; while 10 individual prizes will be awarded in specialties such as script, musicalization, direction and male and female voice-over.
The programs will not exceed two hours in length and may be advised by radio collaborating specialists and professors without implying their authorship in the final product, in addition, the participation of professional announcers will not be accepted, he commented.

Based at the University of Holguin, the National Radio Festival, founded in 1998, aims to train lovers of the medium through the exchange of related topics and its transforming insertion in the university community.
