Ernesto Santiesteban Velázquez, First Secretary of the Communist Party of Cuba in Holguín, and Manuel Hernández, Governor of the Province, presented the recognition to the Military Region for the 60th anniversary of the constitution of the PCC in the FAR.

Party functioning in the Cuban Army celebrated

The functioning of the Communist Party of Cuba (PCC) in the Revolutionary Armed Forces (FAR) was commemorated in the Revolution Square Major General Calixto García Iñiguez, in the city of Holguín.

Aldo López Bairan, head of the Political Section, expressed that “the FAR finds in the strength of the PCC the solid base for the fulfillment of tasks, missions and nurtures in its ranks chiefs, non-commissioned officers and workers”.

The event was attended by Major General Ricardo Rigel Tejeda, chief of the Eastern Army, Ernesto Santiesteban Velázquez, first PCC secretary in Holguín province and member of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Cuba.

The top party leader in Holguin gave recognitions to the Eastern Army and the Military Region, on the 67th anniversary of the landing of the Granma yacht.

In the ceremony 75 officers were promoted to different ranks, 15 of them to Lieutenant Colonel.

Alfredo Diéguez Rodríguez, after being promoted to Captain, together with his little daughter and wife expressed: “it is a great pride and duty to my homeland to receive this promotion. Military life is difficult. Sleepless nights but I have the support of my family and it is a duty to safeguard the Cuban Revolution”.

Manuel Hernández, Governor of the province, also attended the commemoration.

During the political act, singer Nadiel Mejías and soloist Dianelis Torres of the Teatro Lírico Rodrigo Prats, under the artistic direction of Carlos López, performed.
