The deep analysis of the main indicators that affect the functioning of the union structures that agglutinate health sector workers in Holguin province was one of the topics that focused the debate held among the 65 delegates to the Second Provincial Conference of the Health Workers Union (SNTS), which took place on November 22 and 23.
Present on the occasion were Santiago Badía, General Secretary of the SNTS; Manuel Rivero Abella, National Director of Medical Attention of the Ministry of Public Health, as well as the highest authorities of the health sector in the territory.
The delegates also talked about how to achieve a rational use of the resources available to the sector; the detection of deficiencies and their prompt solution; the close communication between the union and the administration; the contribution of the workers to the improvement of the indicators of the Maternal and Child Care Program (PAMI); as well as the dynamization of the Family Doctor and Nurse Program, with the purpose of restoring the functionality of its foundational concept.
The meeting held for this Second Conference also included the election of 16 professionals of the sector who will represent the nearly 31 thousand members of this union in the province at the national assembly, scheduled for early December of this year.
To this number is added the only direct delegate from the territory, previously elected, Dr. María Migdalia Paneque Mendoza, who works at the Children’s Hospital Octavio de la Concepción de la Pedraja.
During the first plenary session, the new structure of the Provincial Committee, made up of 25 members, was submitted to the vote of those present, where Annia Cuenca Montero was ratified as Secretary General.
