The transformations that the radio needs from different scopes were the focus of the debate of the theoretical panels that began on the second day of the National Festival of Cuban Radio, which is being held since Monday at the Pernik Hotel in the city of Holguin.
The panel “Target audience and its segmentation in the local radio: Who is listening to us?” by radio broadcaster César Hidalgo Torres, from CMKO Radio Angulo, analyzed how to better connect with listeners and make them feel identified with the contents that are broadcasted, encourage their participation and the necessary transformation to capture audiences in a context where most of the information is consumed from digital platforms.
PhD. Felipe Vera Martínez, president of the National Association of Radio Broadcasters of Mexico, guest of the Festival, conveyed an encouraging message about the permanence of radio despite the emergence of new media and the need to continue adapting to take advantage of new digital platforms.

Rey Luis Correa, radio broadcaster from Santiago de Cuba, organizer of the National Radio Workshop and winner of the Antonio Lloga in Memorian award, commented on the need to create radio content for the Internet as one of the ways to adapt the medium to current times.

“The future of radio is in the network, it is proven that many people consume audio from the Internet, but the last edition of “Lloga” dedicated to podcasting showed that we are paying for Internet content that does not handle the codes for this medium and this requires a review,” he said.

The conference ” Production routines and participation in the Radio” by Silvia Albelo Medina, producer of Radio Rebelde, encouraged the debate on citizen participation programs and how people feel involved and identified with this type of radio broadcasting that contributes to solve local problems as long as the topics of the public agenda coincide with the interests and needs of the audience.
