The number two Taxi Agency of Holguín, specialized in the tricycle cap service, supports the transportation of passengers from the mini terminals with the daily transfer of more than 18 thousand people to facilitate mobility, despite the challenges faced by the sector.
Joel Rodríguez Vázquez, director of this entity, reported that they currently have 170 of these means, although there are 146 tricycles working, which work on a rotating basis at the points with the greatest influx of passengers, such as the Las Baleares Intermunicipal Terminal and “Lucía Íñiguez” clinical hospital.

Due to the reorganization of the transportation system, the vehicles’ working hours have been limited due to the shortage of fuel, which makes it difficult to comply with the established schedules, which range from seven in the morning to five in the afternoon, he said.
Rodríguez Vázquez emphasized that, in spite of this situation, priority is given to transporting the sick and students to areas close to the university institutions, while avoiding the overcharges imposed by private means to these places.

He also added that a group of 20 motorcycles dedicated to high impact tasks has been created, which respond quickly to congestions in the mini terminals, six of which are destined to the health sector to solve the transportation logistics in the hospitals and to transfer the medical guard during the night.
Since its creation, the group from Holguín has carried out outstanding work, which last year earned it the status of National Outstanding for its performance during the Covid-19 period.
