The 18th Ibero-American Congress of Thought was closed in Holguin as part of the activities contemplated in the program of the Ibero-American Culture Festival which, until next October 30, is being held in this city.

Barbara Martinez Pupo, president of the Organizing Committee of the event, launched the call for the year 2024, as part of the program of the XXX edition of the Festival, as an integrating project to promote the Hispanic American identity from justice and cultural legacy.

During its sessions at the Marti movie-theater, the space counted with the presentation of the Latin American Union of Albinism (ULA) and the Community of Albino People of Eastern Cuba (CPAO), where, in addition, experiences of various Latin American countries in the integration of individuals with this condition were discussed.

The photographic exhibition “Albinos, being different”, by photographer Jorge Mónaco, was also exhibited and the novel “El sendero de los conejos blancos” (The Path of the White Crabs), by writer Ignacio Larrañaga, both from Argentina, were presented.

The Ibero-American Congress of Thought is inserted annually as the theoretical event within the Ibero-American Culture Festival that every October, since 1993, is held in Holguin, to commemorate the meeting of the Two Cultures.

The personal exhibition “Pinturas Rupestres”, by Rafael Zarza, National Prize of Fine Arts 2019, stands out among the activities of the XXIX edition of the Ibero-American Culture Festivity that will be extended until next October 30 in Holguin.

The exhibition, made up of 13 pieces worked in acrylic on canvas, was inaugurated this Thursday in the Main Hall of the Provincial Center of Fine Arts, with primitive art, from the contemporary, and the bullfighting theme as banner.

Rafael Zarza, author of the exhibition, in statements to the Cuban News Agency, explained that the works pay tribute to the cave painter, since it constitutes man’s first contact with nature and art.

He also commented that the exhibition reflects an ellipsis in time, which merges the paintings of high looks with African art from the warmth of the colors and the contrast of figures.

“There is man, art and culture there, and that is what must be saved,” he stressed.

Among the activities of this year’s edition of the Ibero-American Culture Festival are the exhibition of handicrafts of the Cuban Women Entrepreneurs Project and the exhibition “Works on Paper… papers to the work”, with the results of the manufactured paper workshops held during the event.

With permanent headquarters in the city of Holguin since 1992, the Ibero-American Culture Festival relates the roots with the contemporary and the identity projections of the diverse peoples of the region.
