Maestro Humberto Pino Hernandez, composer, instrumentalist, teacher and director of the Provincial Concert Band for 19 years received the applause of his faithful audience at the retreta held in Calixto Garcia Iñiguez Park, in its farewell with the baton in G major, in “Faces of Music” from the colonial courtyard of the Provincial Museum La Periquera, National Monument.

Julio Méndez Rivero, plastic artist and president of the Union of Writers and Artists of Cuba (Uneac) in Holguín, presented him with a recognition on behalf of the institution he presides.

Idalmis Reyes, provincial director of the Empresa de la Música y los espectáculos, together with Rachel García Heredia, provincial director of Culture and Ricardo Ronda, director of the Centro de la Cultura , joined in the laurels to the work and life of Pino.

In his curriculum Pino has received “La lira de plata”, granted in the Province of Granma, Illustrious Son of the City of Holguin, Community Culture Award, among other laurels.

His legacy includes the support and formation of 11 concert bands in the province of Holguin. His tenacity to achieve a headquarters for the band in the city of Holguin and, at the same time as a center of improvement, was one of his great purposes in his professional life. He has carried out several cultural missions in several countries among them Turkey.

Daniel Santos, after receiving the baton of director of the Provincial Band of Concerts of Holguin, from the hands of the teacher Humberto Pino Hernandez, closed the concert in homage to Manuel de Jesus Leyva. “From the teacher Coco” African Fantasy”. Pino said: “Daniel Santos came as a child, recently graduated from the Conservatory of Music of Camagüey. He had knowledge, talent”. This is a synthesis and continuity of (Coco’s) work and for the work of those to come.

In the concert “Rostros la música” were interpreted works of great beauty of the authorship of Hernandez Pino, dedicated to his parents, daughters and his wife of “Historia de un amor”. “It is the most emotional of my works,” he said.

Actress Mireya Abreu, who performed “La máquina de escribir” after her presentation, said: “It was a long process, I had never played an instrument other than the guitar at home. I had to remember the scores and learn them. They were days of a lot of rehearsal. I am delighted and very grateful to maestro Humberto Pino and the public enjoyed it very much,” she said.Actresses from Holguín performed poems dedicated to Ernesto Guevara de la Serna, along with the piece “Suite de las Américas”, which opened the evening.

Among the musical surprises was the premiere of the piece “El cantante” by Jilberto Rufino, known as (Candela). In an exquisite concert that leaves forever Maestro Pino in the highest of the cultural universe of Holguin.

Among the audience were Ernesto Santiesteban Velázquez, first Secretary of the Communist Party of Cuba in Holguín, and Manuel Francisco Aguilera Hernández, Governor of the province.
