School linked to agriculture in Antilla, Holguín
The Henry Reeve boy scout center of Antilla, in the Cuban province of Holguín, is one of the education institutions linked to the programs of vegetable planting, which is part of the actions implemented in that municipality towards local food self-sufficiency.
This initiative includes preparation of arable land focused on the contribution to food supply for the center, where professors also get involved, said Loysa González Collazo, a specialist of the field.
She added that this strategy will also benefit other schools and social institutions in Antilla, where an ample agriculture program is taking place, mainly on root vegetables like yucca or sweet potato, and plantain.
