With the consent of the rain Cubs defeat Hunters

The rain was once again an ally of the Holguín Cubs and closed the game when they with a 5×3 advantage and one out consumed their offensive turn at the end of the eighth inning, while the Artemisa Hunters waited for their “possible last chance.” with a luxury batch, second, third and fourth.

The Cubs opened the scoring with two runs in the second inning by taking advantage of three consecutive walks from starter Rubén Hernández (0-1), the loser in the end, and then an RBI shot by Dionar Carballo and a sacrifice fly by Jolber Naranjo.

The homeowners, in their Calixto García stadium, added another two in the fourth for a ticket to Carballo, Naranjo’s hit, Ernesto Torres’s sacrifice bunt, with which Hernández exploded, and Adriel Hechavarría’s rocket that brought the two runners for the rubber

The Cazadores marked their first run in the second inning, when after two outs the ninth hitter Dainiel López hit a tubey and mistakenly entered the shortstop’s throw, and then discounted another in the third, for Dayán García’s fifteenth homer.

The third and last score was achieved by the visitors in the fifth when, after one out, Carlos de la Tejera hit a triple, Dayán García received a ball, which served to expel the starter from Holguin, Yusmel Velázquez, who gave way to José Antonio Sánchez, and the fourth hitter José Antonio Jiménez drove with a rolling ball down the shortstop.

The so-called finishing touch for the Cubs came in the seventh inning with Edilse Silva’s seventh home run of the season, her number 199 for life, the only score they managed against reliever Geomar Núñez, who threw four innings.

In short, the Cazadores de Artemisa team scored three times and hit eight hits, and Holguín stepped on the rubber five times and hit seven hits, in a game where each team failed the defense twice.

For the winners, Edilse stood out with the wood, 2-2 and the aforementioned homer, and for the defeated Carlos de las Tejera connected tubey and triple in three official turns.

The victory corresponded to Sánchez (2-4), with two hits and a ticket in 1 2/3 innings of work, and Michel Cabrera earned his ninth save with a two-inning job, in which he allowed two hits, struck out two and conceded an intentional ticket.

After these results, Holguín appears in seventh place, with a balance of 29-26, three games from the top, the same as Las Tunas (27-24) and Sancti Spiritus (28-25), which occupy the fifth and sixth, for the best win-loss average. At the top of the table are: Mayabeque (31-22), Santiago de Cuba (32-23) and Artemisa (20-24).

This Monday, starting at 02:00 pm, local time, the second games of the twelfth private matches of the LXII National Baseball Series will take place and at the Calixto García are announced as starters, Wilson Paredes (4-5) for the team from home, and by the openers Yunieski García (7-2), co-leader in games won.
