Cachorros drop to tenth place in the National Baseball Series

The Cachorros de Holguín continued in dangerous regression and when they lost this Thursday to the Azucareros de Villa Clara, 11×3 at the Sandino stadium in Santa Clara, they lost their third consecutive game in the final stretch of the LXII National Baseball Series.

The game reached the fifth episode with the score tied at two, but there the Azucareros got into it with the pitching of the Holguín team, which scored nine runs, four of the six runs that were given to starter Uberleydis Estévez, now 3-2, who left without getting an out after allowing three consecutive hits and throwing a ball.

Four, three of them clean, went to Luis Cáser, who got only one out and allowed a triple with the bases loaded, in addition to giving away two bases, one intentional, and a wild pitch.

In that same inning Sergio Moroso allowed a home run with bases loaded by Víctor Boch, his first in the national series. Moroso went 2 2/3 innings in which he allowed four hits and struck out two.

Also pitching for Holguín were José Antonio Rodríguez, who got one out, allowed one hit and gave away one base, and César Concepción worked 1 2/3 with two hits and an equal number of strikeouts.

The victory went to starter Reídel Alfonso (3-2), who allowed eight hits and three clean sheets in six innings in which he fanned four, gave out an equal number of transfers and committed two wild pitches.

Oscar Luis Aveillé pitched the last three innings in which he was hit by three hits, struck out one and gave up one ticket to earn his first save.

In summary, the Azucareros de Villa Clara scored eleven runs and hit 15 hits and The Cachorros de Holguín scored three times, hit 11 runs and committed one error.

Three batters drove in 10 of the winners’ 11 runs; four by substitute Boch with his grand slam in two innings, and three by Yuri Fernández, with a home run in two official times, and Cristian Rodríguez, with a triple in four offensive opportunities. For Holguín, Adriel Hechavarría hit 4-3 and Jorge Luis Peña and Edward Magaña hit 4-2.

After this defeat, the third against Villa Clara with only one win, the Holguín team dropped to tenth place in the standings with a 27-26 record, four and a half games off the top. 27-26, four and a half games behind the top of the standings.

This Friday, as part of the National Baseball Series, with the fifth games of the the fifth games of the championship, the particular sub-series of the of the championship and Villa Clara and Holguin will face each other from at 2:00 pm, local time, at the Sandino santaclareño itself, by Holguín Rubén Rodríguez (1-4) has been announced as starter.
