Tolerance to risk, Covid-19 gap

Tolerance to risk is a gap of contagion and propagation of Covid-19, a disease still present in the epidemiological scenario of Holguin province, where its prevention and control are priorities of the Health sector.

The probabilities of getting sick are real and in fact new positive cases continue to be reported, although statistically they do not constitute a sanitary alarm if they place the territory as the one with the highest incidence of the coronavirus in Cuba at present.

Follow-up in Holguin due to increase in Covid-19 cases

For this reason, health authorities reiterate that the infection caused by the SARS CoV-2 virus in newborns, pregnant women and the elderly has significant consequences for life, so that prevention measures are still convenient and necessary, especially in public spaces.

In this sense, responsible citizen action is essential and decisive to avoid peaks of contagion that lead to the mobilization and extra effort of health personnel in the midst of the complex economic situation that the country is currently facing.

The neglect of biosecurity protocols gives way to this respiratory infection with dangerous consequences for life and society. This is a reality that we cannot ignore, even though the WHO has recently declared the end of the global health emergency due to Covid-19.

Risk perception makes the difference

Man’s ability to adapt to adverse situations has given way to the confidence gap through which the new coronavirus continues to slip, so normality must be assumed with caution.

Covid-19: life lesson three years after its arrival in Holguín

The virus is here to stay and, therefore, it is essential to maintain epidemiological surveillance and ongoing risk assessment in the community, as well as an adequate medical response and timely diagnosis.

Taking into account the experience of confronting the pandemic in the last three years, and the lessons and impact of its different outbreaks, the perception of risk makes the difference in the control and management of Covid-19.

Contributing, from the discipline, to protect life and not to ruin the enormous collective and multisectoral effort against the SARS CoV-2 virus is a sensible option because let us not forget how vulnerable and dependent we human beings are on each other.

To date, more than 1,113,000 people in Cuba have tested positive for Covid-19 and, unfortunately, 8,530 have died.
