Ediciones La Luz, the literary house of the Hermanos Saíz Association in Holguin, is the special guest at the meeting of writers, editors and illustrators of the children’s book “En el Valle de la Pájara Pinta”, which is taking place in Viñales, Pinar del Rio, until November 30.
According to the publisher’s Facebook page, the first action of the program was the inauguration of the collective exhibition “Retoños de almendro”, at the Pinar del Rio headquarters of the Union of Writers and Artists of Cuba (Uneac).

There, Nelson Simón, writer and president of Uneac in that province, and Jenny Pérez, director of Ediciones Cauce, had words of praise for the members of the editorial team of La Luz, who were also rewarded with the embrace of the Cuban poetess and storyteller Nersys Felipe.
Already in Viñales, poets and editors Alfredo Zaldívar and Luis Yuseff deposited a bouquet of roses on behalf of the guests to the memory of Dora Alonso, whose ashes were scattered in 2001 in the beautiful valley of Pinar del Río, between hummocks and tobacco fields, fulfilling the will of the author of “Pelusín del Monte”.
Coincidentally, the verses that open the pages of “Retoños de almendro”, the flagship anthology of Ediciones La Luz, belong to her: “De parte del aguacero/ que cubran con un paraguas/ al retoño del almendro” (On behalf of the downpour/ that they cover with an umbrella/ the sprout of the almond tree).

In the Valley of the Pájara Pinta also propitiated the presentation of the children’s catalog of La Luz, with true jewels of its Güije and Espejo collections, as well as the anthologies “Retoños…” and “Dice el musgo que brota”, both compiled by Eldys Baratute.
In addition, the electronic versions of these compilation editions were presented, including hyperlinks to the audiovisual and audiobook versions, the latter recorded by the Oral Narration Company Palabras al Viento.

The novelty was the launching of two new audiobooks, conceived from the printed versions of “Él y yo sumamos dos” and “En busca de la piedra verde”, by Nersys Felipe and Alice Walker, respectively, recorded in the studios of Radio Angulo in the voice of Liset Prego and edited by Amalio Carralero.
Organized by Uneac in Pinar del Río and its publishing house Cauce, the literary event “En el Valle de la Pájara Pinta” also has as guests Ediciones Matanzas, the Claustrofobias project and the Nicolás Guillén Foundation.
