In Holguin XIV National Architecture Event

On November 8, World Urbanism Day, the XIV National Architecture Event was opened in Holguin, which for three days includes an exhibition, debates and lectures to be given by personalities with wide experience in architectural design and execution of works.

In welcoming the almost 60 participants, PhD. María Onelia Urbina, president of the board of directors of the National Union of Architects and Construction Engineers in the province, said that Holguín, the Cuban City of the Parks, rejoices to receive and interact with so many experienced architects who have received important awards such as the Life and Work Award, and wished success to the contestants.

For the competition section 75 works from various provinces of the country were received, which are competing for prizes such as the “Architecture Gold Medal”, which will be awarded to the best work executed and in operation in the country, among other categories.

A jury made up of prestigious professionals in the field, most of them PhD. and professors of several Cuban universities, will evaluate the works in competition and will announce its verdict at the closing ceremony of the contest on Friday, November 10.

This National Event, the most important moment of architecture in Cuba, has been held every two years since 1997.

On this occasion, for the first time, a Biennial of Biennials will be held in Montevideo, Uruguay, with the participation of the works awarded in the last edition, while the winners in 2023 will participate in a similar international experience.
