Holguin delegation to 11th Upec Congress recognized

The delegation from the province of Holguin that will attend the 11th Congress of the Union of Cuban Journalists (Upec), to be held on November 2nd and 3rd at Havana’s Conference Center, was flagged off last Monday at the Press House, in the presence of the highest political and governmental authorities of the territory.

The group of representatives of the northeastern region is composed of 10 journalists from the municipalities of Holguin, Mayari and Moa; also in the delegation there are 3 guests: Fidel Troya Garcia, former president of Upec in Holguin; Ivonne Perez Perez, head of the Journalism major at the University of Holguin and Jorge Fernandez Perez, student of Journalism .

The delegates, as part of their previous preparation, had days of debate on the methodological documents and guidelines to be analyzed at the Havana meeting.

They were also part of the discussion of the topics to be addressed in the three commissions that will meet: Cuban press a networked society, Professional improvement and training of journalists, and The desired organization in the 21st century.

In the national meeting, the action plan for the five-year period 2023-2028 will be presented, composed of three main axes: New public press model for Cuban socialism, New communicational culture for our socialism and The Upec of the 21st century.

For the new stage the delegation of the Union of Journalists of Cuba in Holguin has proposed to retake the “Irma Armas Fonseca” Press Festival, appointment that will be propitious to dialogue on the reality that today is constructed from the work of the young and more experienced reporters of our eastern region.

Also, as part of the strengthening of the guild and the professional improvement, the third edition of the diploma course of professional reorientation towards Journalism will be developed, as well as other postgraduate courses among which is: “Mountain Journalism”.
