The Mambises of Cacocum with a (9-2) score over Vaqueros of Calixto Garcia left the XLVI Provincial Baseball Series in Holguin no undefeated squad after six dates of competition.
The first game at the Luis Figueredo stadium in the town of Maceo was a personal victory for Arley Espinosa supported by the offensive of Víctor Paz, (3- 4) with 5 RBIs.
Then the Vaqueros reacted in the second match to win (5-2), Carlos Méndez in the box grabbed the win, the outstanding contribution in the offensive by Yordan Manduley (3-4) was also remarkable.
In the Western Zone, defending champions Sultanes of Holguín, visiting the Villa Blanca, swept the Piratas of Gibara, firstly 5×4 with a Estiben Rodríguez winning and a productive offensive by Jolber Naranjo, 4-3 with one run batted in, and then 1×0 in ten innings with a complete work of Jesús Quintán.
The Colosos of Urbano Noris, as hosts, first defeated the Navegantes of Rafael Freyre 5×0, Álvaro Cobas won and Arnoldis Poll (4-3) outstanding out at batting: one run batted in.
In the second match, the Colosos squad grabbed the win (4×2) with a successful work by Humberto González, Víctor Ramos saved and the outstanding offensive by René Cruz, 2-2 and one run batted in.
Meanwhile, the Tigres of Báguanos imposed respect as visitors at the Remigio Marrero stadium, where they blanked the Delfines of Antilla, in the first game (8×0), with Giorvis López winning, and then (5×0) with Jorge Luis Tamayo in the box.
In the Eastern Division, the Alegres of Mayari, at the Rogelio Herrera Stadium in Cayo Mambi, won 9×6 over the Leones of Frank Pais, Enrique Machado that won, was supported by the hits of Jose Armando Leyva, (3-2), and Luis Lawrence, (4-2).
Then, the Leones of Frank País grabbed the victory (5×3) with Dayán Rodríguez in the hill, and the outstanding offensive of Fernando Azahares (3-4), Luis Mustelier, (2-2) with an RBI, Erik Fiss, (2-3) and a RBI, and Luis Lawrence, (2-3).
The Ferroviarios of Cueto could not travel to play off Cafetaleros of Sagua de Tanamo, thus, sub-series was postponed.
Now the Western Zone, Vaqueros of Calixto and Sultanes of Holguín go tied in the first place (7-1), followed by the teams of Gibara, Juveniles and Cacocum, all with a 2 wins and 6 defeats.
The multi-champion Tigres of Báguanos lead the Central Group with (8-2), followed by Banes (4-4), Rafael Freyre (4-6), Antilla (3-6) and Urbano Noris (3-5).
The Cafetaleros of Sagua de Tánamo are in the lead in the Eastern Zone with a 6-1, escorted by Mayarí (5-5), Moa (3-3), Cueto (2-4) and Frank País (2-5).
In the seventh competition day that will take place next Saturday 14, Vaqueros and Juveniles (under 18 team) will face each other at the EIDE sports school; Holguín and Cacocum at Feliú Leyva ball park; Báguanos and Banes at the Melchor Anido; Navegantes of Rafael Freyre and Antilla at the Mariano Camacho; Mayarí and Moa at the Emilio Gómez Bermúdez; and Cueto and Leones of Frank País at Luis Alberto Rodríguez stadium.
The Piratas of Gibara, Colosos of Urbano Noris and Cafetaleros of Sagua de Tánamo will be off.
