Holguin is one of the Cuban provinces that is manufacturing school uniforms for students and assumes the demands in the different levels of education, intended for the next school period 2023-2024, which will begin on September 4th.

Luis Felipe Batista Rodríguez, general director of Education in the province, told the ACN that this includes the sale of more than 74 thousand uniforms for new entrants, made by the Unidad Empresarial de Base Confecciones Yamarex, which uses its four workshops in the territory in order to fulfill this task.

The sale of these uniforms consists of two shirts or blouses, and two skirts or shorts, which are already for sale at 226 shops, including those in the mountain communities, he said.

Batista Rodríguez stated that an enrollment of more than 141,000 students is expected, divided among the a thousand and 330 schools.

He also specified that other strategies aimed at achieving a favorable development of the school calendar are being evaluated, among them, the improvement of the teaching coverage through the task “Educating for love”, related to the teaching of classes in all subjects by students from the second to the last year of university.

In view of the difficulties with the school supplies, a strategy will be implemented to guarantee the delivery of pencils and notebooks until October when new textbooks will be available for everyone, he added.

The Education leader also emphasized that one of the priorities in the next educational period is to enhance professional orientation towards pedagogical courses and links with forms of production such as orchards, plots of land and the School to the Countryside plan, with the aim of improving their work performance.

In the 2023-2024 school year, emphasis will be placed on the national cultural decolonization program focused on the formation of values and strengthening work in schools and communities, in addition to implementing the transformations of the third improvement of the general education system, such as the printing of more didactic books and the implementation of activities that address current issues.
