High voltage worker in Banes

In Banes there is a high voltage worker by the name of Abel Alfonso, whose life and work meet what José Martí wrote on one of his works: “others are intoxicated by wine; myself by overwork“.

The daily work of Abel Alfonso Remedios, electrician and installer of the Electricity Company of the municipality of Banes, makes that phrase come true.

It is that this simple and cheerful man has been working in this important profession for more than 16 years.

“I came to this job by pure vocation, since I was a child I was attracted to electricity and I was linked to several groups of interest in this field in the Pioneers nad Youths Palace. I think that’s why I did not hesitate to apply for this occupation. Working at Electricity Company in Banes is a dream come true, and that is why every day I give the best of myself to satisfy the customers”, said high voltage worker Abel Alfonso.

Abel feels happy and grateful with his daily work, and about that he refers that in that work he performs several actions “such as the rehabilitation of services, the removal of meters from those homes where there is no consumption, we also make changes of place of these metering equipment, as well as other tasks that I am entrusted with”, said in his simple way high voltage worker by the name of Abel Alfonso.

Working with high voltage lines requires a lot of caution, says Abel. “This is a job where it is very important to be aware of all the means of protection and to comply with what has been established. We never work alone, we are a team. In the case of my job, we work as a couple and we always take care of each other”.

An expert’s warning

Electricity brings with it many benefits, but it is also very dangerous when the methods for its manipulation are not known. “Many accidents occur when the population makes installations or other actions in the houses, it is important that they consult people who are prepared to carry out these tasks and thus avoid situations that many times bring with them even death due to an incorrect use of energy.”

Professional satisfaction is his greatest pride. “I feel useful to society, this is a job of risk and care, but I love it. That vocation that was fostered in my childhood always endures and is what makes me love what I do and dedicate all my efforts so that the population feels fulfilled and happy with my daily work”.
