Dutch Foundation Collaborates with Public Health in Holguin

The Dutch foundation *Stichting Cuba Adelante* is collaborating with public health services in the province of Holguin. By sending equipment and supplies to hospitals, with the goal of strengthening the medical response.

Juan Manuel Pérez Riverón, the organization’s coordinator in Cuba, informed the Cuban News Agency that since its inception in 2014. The group has facilitated the arrival of containers filled with resources, including medical consumables and medications.

Through collaborations with other organizations and international partners, the foundation has been able to provide higher-value equipment to facilities. Such as the César Fornet Fruto Polyclinic in Banes and the Lucía Íñiguez Clinical-Surgical Hospital.

Given the complex situation currently facing the country, the foundation has sent donations. Including an ultrasound machine and an X-ray unit to the hospital in Banes. Demonstrating its commitment to improving medical infrastructure.

Pérez Riverón noted that, as part of their focus on supporting vulnerable population groups in need of healthcare. Other beneficiaries include the Dr. Luis Mario Cruz Maternal and Child Hospital and the nursing home in Banes. As well as the Comprehensive Pediatric Logistics Center in the provincial capital.

Additionally, the foundation has prioritized ophthalmology services in the coastal municipality of Banes. By providing second-hand eyeglass frames and spectacles. Alongside supplying physiotherapy tables, walkers, wheelchairs, and canes.

Amidst ongoing energy challenges, Pérez Riverón added that they are working on a project to transition the sector toward a different energy mix. Beginning with the installation of photovoltaic panels at some of the healthcare facilities that need them most.

The assistance provided by Stichting Cuba Adelante and its partners from the European nation also extends to education and sports. Through the donation of equipment to students at the Pedro Díaz Coello Sports Initiation School, located in the main municipality.
