The opening ceremony will take place on October 31st at the Abdoulaye Wade Stadium in Diamniadio. This edition will also feature, for the first time, a youth Olympic refugee team composed of athletes based in Africa.
Dakar will follow in the footsteps of Singapore 2010, Nanjing 2014, and Buenos Aires 2018. The three previous host cities for this summer competition. The event’s schedule experienced a long hiatus following the postponement of the edition originally planned for 2022, due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
Cuba has earned a total of 24 medals throughout the history of these games, including 15 gold, four silver, and five bronze. This track record will serve as a foundation for a new generation. Now called upon to write its own chapter in the competition.
