Cuban Foreign Minister Bruno Rodríguez highlighted that no nation defended the criminal conduct of the United States today at the UN Human Rights Council.
“The international community raised its voice emphatically. To demand that the United States government cease the blockade and the energy embargo against the Cuban people,” Rodríguez wrote on his X account.
Moreover the foreign minister noted that delegations unanimously endorsed the findings regarding the case presented by Special Rapporteur Alena Douhan on Unilateral Coercive Measures. They expressed their disagreement with the “ceaseless aggressive escalation against Cuba.” Which severely harms the country and Cuban families while violating their human rights.
In another message on X, the foreign minister explained that the 10 recommendations regarding Cuba made to the U.S. government by Douhan include lifting all coercive measures against the island. Removing restrictions on the supply of essential goods, and ceasing the country’s designation as a state sponsor of terrorism.
Furthermore, the recommendations call for repealing the national state of emergency declared over the alleged threat Havana poses to Washington. Ending fines imposed on banks for ties to the island, removing all obstacles to the sending of remittances. Resolving differences with the Caribbean nation through dialogue rather than pressure.
“It is now up to the Council to monitor the United States’ compliance with these actions,” Rodríguez concluded.
The Human Rights Council today denounced six decades of economic genocide against Cuba. Describing it as the longest-standing policy of unilateral coercive measures in the history of U.S. foreign relations.
