The usual hustle and bustle of the Holguin ring road gave way this morning to the discipline of athletics. Chiefs, officers, combatants, civilian workers, and even the youngest members of the Ministry of the Interior (Minint) family in the province of Holguin. They traded their uniforms for running shoes and sports jerseys for the traditional “August 13th” Cup.

The marathon was more than just another race. Linked to the popular tribute preceding the centennial of the birth of Commander-in-Chief Fidel Castro Ruz. Also the event became a demonstration of vitality, loyalty, and commitment to the nation’s history from the northeastern region.

 During the race, the energy of the younger generations set the pace. Young combatants from the security and internal order agency expressed their pride in training. Under the guidance of a leader who transformed physical fitness and the widespread practice of sports into a right of the people.

Alongside the physical endurance, the event served as a space for family bonding. Also where veterans of the institution marched shoulder to shoulder with the new recruits. Symbolizing the generational shift within the ranks of the Ministry of the Interior (Minint).

After the grueling day on the asphalt, the provincial headquarters of the Ministry of the Interior hosted a political-cultural event. Where winners in the female, male, youngest athlete, and most experienced athlete categories were awarded.

Who received well-deserved recognition for their dedication to duty. Likewise, officers with extensive experience were given a farewell with honors. As they assumed new responsibilities and missions within the institution.

First Sergeant Luis Miguel Parra Peña was decorate with the Distinguished Service Award in the Ministry of the Interior. He received the Praise of Virtue, the highest expression of ethical rigor and unconditional dedication.

The event concluded with a performance of socially conscious Artist Reynier Velázquez Álvarez—widely known in the music scene as Lieutenant Rey—. He provided a festive atmosphere, leading the Palante Records project from Granma province.

Finally the artist is currently on his national tour, “With a Backpack on My Shoulder.” He is preparing to headline a milestone in his career: the brigade’s 100th concert. To be held at the historic site of Biran, birthplace of the Commander-in-Chief. As a direct tribute from the artistic vanguard to the leader of the Cuban Revolution.
