Holguin Lyric Theater Concludes First Half 2026 Program

The Rodrigo Prats Lyric Theater of Holguin presented a concert this Friday at the Provincial Center for Visual Arts. Concluding its program for the first half of the year.

Under the artistic direction of Alfredo Más, the performance featured a diverse repertoire grouped under the concept of international lyricism. Including works from Neapolitan song, musical theater, Spanish and Cuban zarzuela. As well as opera selections, one of the most applauded moments by the audience.

The concert was conceived in a format adapted to the exhibition space. An alternative that has allowed the group to maintain its artistic activity given the impossibility of using its usual venue. The Eddy Suñol Theater which is currently undergoing renovations.

As Más explained, this situation requires adjustments to stage elements. Such as set design, costumes, and lighting, transforming the originally conceived performance experience.

The performance marked the end of the company’s regular activities for the first half of 2026. During the summer months, its members will participate in performing arts events in various public spaces throughout the city. Though not as part of the company’s formal programming.

Moreover the artistic director also emphasized the importance of the prompt restoration of the company’s historic home, founded in 1962. While warning of the risk of a decline in public engagement with cultural activities if the absence of performances at its usual venue continues.

The Rodrigo Prats Lyric Theater plans to resume its programming in September. In preparation for celebrating its 64th anniversary in November.
