A donation from the International Red Cross is benefiting health centers in the municipality of Urbano Noris. As part of efforts to maintain services amidst the fuel crisis.
Erlis Cruzata Pérez, an official in the sector in that town, told the Cuban News Agency (CNA) that the equipment delivered includes an eight-kilowatt (kV) inverter, 14 solar panels, and 25 kV of battery storage. Destined for Medical Clinic No. 15 in that municipality.
This clinic serves the population of the rural community of Gutiérrez and is equipped to handle medical emergencies. Cruzata Pérez emphasized that the system will allow the clinic to harness solar energy to guarantee basic services.
He also highlighted that it will offer quality services to vulnerable populations. Including families covered by social security and senior citizens. The official explained that the donation is a profoundly humanitarian act. As it facilitates the institution’s operation amidst the coercive measures aimed at strangling the Cuban economy.
Maintaining this health service is a significant advantage for the population of this rural area. Also who can receive healthcare without having to travel long distances.
Previously, the International Red Cross donated another modern 16 kV system to the municipal hospital. Which provided electricity to the entire facility, except for the X-ray equipment, which required high voltage to operate.
Also the health sector in Holguin is promoting electricity generation from solar energy. As a method to guarantee vital services at its institutions during the crisis generated by the United States’ hostile policy toward Cuba.
