The Héctor Rodríguez Sports Club won the softball tournament

The Héctor Rodríguez Sports Club team was crowned the new champion of the Holguin Municipal Recreational Softball Championship. An event held at the Jesús Feliú Leyva Sports Complex in the provincial capital.

The champions defeated the FigueBatis team 12-11 in the first semifinal game. With Omán Rojas earning the win and Alexander Ávila taking the loss. Israel Escobar, Alejandro Escobar, and Alexander Paneque hit home runs for the winners. While Fernando Patterson and Yoan Palacio (twice) hit home runs for the losing side.

In the second game, the Megameliun team delivered a resounding 16-3 victory over Pedro Díaz Coello. Yoiner Montero earned the win, while Julio Báster took the loss. David Rodríguez, Yusnier Pino, Maikel Puig, and Ángel Amestoy hit the ball for the winning team. While Andrés González hit it for the losing team.

In the final, a heart-stopping game, Peña Héctor Rodríguez defeated Megameliun 16-15. With Jorge Luis Rodríguez earning the win in relief and Yoiner Montero taking the loss.

Voters for the champions included Julio Medina, Yasmani Driggs, Rubén Rodríguez, two votes each from Alejandro Escobar and Israel Escobar. For the losing team, David Rodríguez, Yusnier Pino, Maikel Puig, and Yoiner Montero.

Individual categories were led by Yasmani Pérez (Megameliun) with a .667 batting average. Rainer García (ETECSA) in runs scored with 9. And Serguey Hernández (ETECSA) in home runs and RBIs with 4 and 14, respectively.

Among the pitchers, Julio Báster (“Pedro Díaz Coello”) stood out with a 3-0 record. Román Rojas (“Héctor Rodríguez”) pitched eight scoreless innings. Yoiner Montero (“Megameliun”) struck out 12.

Also the teams from the Héctor Rodríguez and Megameliun Sports Clubs secured their spots in the Provincial Zonal tournaments. And the third berth will be decided by the winner of a game between “Pedro Díaz Coello” and FigueBatis.
