As part of the activities commemorating International Women’s Day. The Holguin Provincial Historical Archive hosted the exchange “Women by Assault.” With the participation of members of the Federation of Cuban Women (FMC). The event fostered an intergenerational dialogue on the transformative role of women in contemporary society.
During the discussion, participants delved into the legacy of Vilma Espín, not only as a heroine of the underground resistance. Also as a tireless builder of the Revolution’s work in the area of gender equality. Whose enduring relevance inspires current struggles in neighborhoods, workplaces, and communities.
One of the most discussed topics was the need to reconstruct the history of many Cuban women whose stories remain largely unknown. In this context, the Archymujer project was presented by Daysi Ruiz Fuentes. Head of the initiative, who explained that its objective is to rescue. She highlight, and document the often-overlooked contributions of women to local and national history.
This meeting also provided an opportunity to reflect on the progress and challenges in the fight for gender equality. Reaffirmed the institution’s commitment to preserving historical memory from an inclusive and participatory perspective.
